Data Cooperative Working Group

Started in 2021, The Data Cooperative Working Group is an informal, international forum for practitioners, researchers and those interested in the development of data cooperatives as a democratic and accountable mechanism to manage the data we all create.

Since it has been established the group have explored the mechanics of data cooperative creation, examples of data cooperatives in action, legal frameworks and other structures and initiatives that enable pro-social data sharing. Most recently it has been involved in the development of the Data Cooperative Handbook – A Practitioners Guide

The group meets every two months and is an opportunity to share, learn and discuss topics related to mutual data governance and develop new thinking and ideas. You can find details of the next meeting on our events page or by emailing: julian@opendatamanchester.org.uk
